HUBBALLI: A paedophile, who indulged in sexual acts with minors of the same sex and even video-recorded them in order to blackmail them, was thrashed by locals and handed over to the police.
The accused, who hails from Odisha and works as a cook in a popular restaurant here, was a resident of Siddalingeshwara Colony. He would trap minors with the lure of money and chocolates, indulge in sexual acts and video-record them. He would later threaten the minors with the videos.
Locals, who were wary of his behaviour, barged into his house, snatched his phone and questioned him which is when they came to know about his sexual acts. Angered by this, they thrashed him and handed him over to the Old Hubballi police station.
“A case has been registered under the POCSO Act and Section 377 of IPC. We are collecting more evidence in the case”, said Police Commissioner Renuka Sukumar.
