ANEKAL: The Bannerghatta police have cracked the case of the brutal murder of a woman at Janata Colony in Bannerghatta , whose chopped body parts were found scattered in the Bannerghatta Biological Park forest area, with the arrest of one person. A manhunt is on for the other accused.
A group of seven men hailing from Bihar, some of who were tenants of Geetha (54), had killed her on June 1, chopped up the body parts and disposed the head and limbs at a distance of about 1 km from the house. The police have now arrested Inder Kumar (21) from Bihar.
The accused had allegedly threatened Geetha to transfer her house in their name and forced her to sign a legal document. When she did not give in to their threats, the gang killed her.
After committing the murder, the accused went to work. Two of the men even had their food in front of the corpse, police said. When foul smell started emanating from the decomposing body, they carried the body in a plastic bag, and threw parts of it in the forest just behind the house.
The police are investigating the case from all angles and are also verifying whether she was raped. The post-mortem report is still awaited. The Bannerghatta police suspected that the gang had murdered her over a property issue. The police are looking for the prime accused Pankaj Kumar and Sumit.
Bangalore Rural Superintendent of Police Mallikarjuna Baladandi, briefing media persons, said, “Hemavathi, the daughter of the deceased, had lodged a missing person’s complaint stating that she was not responding to her phone calls and had been missing for many days.
