BENGALURU: The Congress, which is upbeat after several exit polls gave it a majority in the Assembly polls held on May 10, has asked all its MLAs to be present in Bengaluru by Saturday evening, the day the votes polled will be counted.
The party has given charge to two people in every district to ensure that its candidates reach Bengaluru by Saturday. Along with this, wherever there is a possibility of Independent candidates winning, those in charge have been asked to convince them too and bring them to Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, scores of leaders lined up at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence in Bengaluru. Among them included former deputy CM G Parameshwara, KPCC president D K Shivakumar, his brother and MP D K Suresh and AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka, Randeep Surjewala.
Earlier, speaking to media persons, Shivakumar, despite suffering from high fever, said that he does not believe the exit polls and stressed that the party will win 141 seats. “There is a wave in favour of the Congress and we will win with absolute majority. People have rejected money and the double engine government. The BJP is dreaming about forming a government”, he said.
