BENGALURU: Channagiri BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa, who has been in judicial custody in a corruption case, has been granted bail by the special court for elected representatives on Saturday.
Virupakshappa has been in judicial custody in a case related to corruption in award of tenders at Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd (KSDL). Special court judge Jayanth Kumar granted bail on five conditions.
Virupakshappa was arrested by the Lokayukta police at Kyathasandra toll in Tumakuru hours after his bail plea was rejected by the Karnataka High Court on March 27. A single-judge bench had dismissed the bail application. The BJP MLA was arrested while he was on his way to Bengaluru from Channagiri after attending an event.
