BSY’s chopper has trouble landing in Jewargi as plastic waste rises to the air

Plastic waste started rising up when the helicopter was attempting to land at the helipad.

KALABURAGI: A helicopter carrying senior BJP leader B S Yediyurappa faced some trouble while landing at a helipad on the outskirts of Jewargi in the district on Monday after plastic waste strewn around rose into the air due to the strong current from the chopper blades.

The chopper was hovering in the air for a few minutes till the police personnel cleared the plastic waste.

The pilot immediately flew away and was hovering around the helipad for some about 5-6 minutes till the police personnel cleared the place around the helipad of the plastic bags and other waste.

The helicopter pilot, Captain Joseph, said landing in such a circumstance was not possible.

Speaking to media persons, Captain Joseph said he couldn’t land in such a circumstance.”All protocols are supposed to followed. We are trained for such situations and that is why we didn’t land till the area was cleared”.

Later, speaking to media persons, Yediyurappa said the pilot did what he had to do at that instant and it cannot be questioned. He, however, refused to comment if there was any security lapse.
