Woman, daughter and son end lives in suicide pact in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: Three members of a family, including a woman and two of her children, ended their lives at their house in Mahalakshmi Layout on Tuesday. The deceased have been identified as Yashodha (70), Suman (41) and Naresh (31).

On Monday night, Yashoda’s daughter, who lives separately, called them, but she got no response. Getting suspiciously, she came to the apartment to check on them and asked the security guard to open the door. But, as there was no spare key, the guard could not open the dorr. Later, she called the police and they broke open the door and found that three of them had committed suicide.

Mahalakshmi Layout police visited the spot and investigated further.

The incident occurred in Mahalakshmi Layout police station limits. The north division Deputy Commissioner of Police, Vinayak Patil visited the spot and further investigation is under way.

“I had finished my duty and gone. I got to know about the incident at 10.30 pm on Monday. Since the last two days, I have not seen them. Yashoda’s other daughter called and asked me for the spare key, but I did not have it. They had moved into the house only four months ago”, said Bhimmanna, the security guard at the apartment.

“We found three people dead in an apartment in Mahalakshmi police station limits. On Saturday evening, they had contacted their relatives, but for the last two days, they did not receive any phone calls. When the other daughter checked on them, the case came to light. We have found a handwritten letter and further investigation is under way”, said Vinayak Pail, North division DCP, Bengaluru city.
