BENGALURU: With many people complaining of various types skin problems after visiting beauty parlours for beauty treatment services, the Akhila Karnataka Beauty Parlour Association has claimed that many unauthorised beauty parlours have come up in the city which are being runby inexperienced beauticians.

Customers generally go to beauty parlours for beauty enhancements such as face bleaching and facials, eyebrows, cleanup, pedicures and manicures. After availing such services, many people have experienced skin problems like face blisters, acne and others.

The beauty parlour association has now said that many inexperienced beauticians have opened parlours to make money and that the beauty products they use are not safe. Doctors too have suggested that people carefully choose the beauty parlours they visit.

Dr Deena Patil, a dermatologist.

“Many people use beauty parlour services, which is understandable. People with sensitive skin and dry skin will have skin problems and there is a risk of skin problems if beauticians use fake beauty products. If beauticians use non-sterile instruments, there is a chance of infections spreading. People should be careful before using parlour services and if there is a skin problem, please visit a dermatologist”, said Dr Deena Patil, a dermatologist in the city.

Anitha Sherley, member of  Akhila Karnataka Beauty Parlour Association.

“Many untrained beauticians have opened parlours and they also give home services. Most of the beauty products they use are unsafe. We check according to the customer’s needs. It is important to analyse different skin and hair types, and experience is very much important  for a beautician. Hygiene and fake products are secondary problems. Before we begin providing the service, we inquire with customers about their preferences, problems, and so on. I suggest customers to notify about their skin problems to the beauticians”, said Anitha Sherley, member of  Akhila Karnataka Beauty Parlour Association.
