BENGALURU: If you haven’t paid up your fines for traffic violations, better watch out.

The traffic police are in talks with insurance companies to recover pending fines at the time of renewal of insurance from private vehicle owners who have not paid up even after notices were sent to their registered addresses.

As per the plan, vehicle insurance will not be renewed until the pending fines are paid and the owner gets a no-objection certificate (NoC) from the traffic police.

A similar system is already in place for transport vehicles and public carriers wherein pending fines are collected at the time of renewal of fitness certificates at RTOs.
