BENGALURU: With the keenly watched Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh election over, Karnataka is now in the sights.
The party central leadership seems to have decided on implementing a strategy similar to what was done in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly election 2023. The party top brass already sent out a clear message to MLA aspirants that the party will not offer tickets to senior leaders in the party.
Following the Gujarat poll results, BJP national president J P Nadda held a meeting with the party’s national office-bearers in Delhi on Tuesday. State BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel, organising chief secretary Rajesh and others participated. At this meeting, the high command sent out a significant message to all leaders.
What is the message to the seniors?
- Senior leaders like former CM B S Yediyurappa should voluntarily announce retirement.
- Some leaders should be directed to convince senior ministers in understanding the strategy.
- They should clearly declare that retirement is voluntary, not by party.
- Leaders should take care not to create confusion among party workers and in their constituencies.
- The high command has instructed Rajesh to reach this message to some seniors who are above 73 years of age.
- A strong policy should be adopted at the booth level, highlighting that the party is bigger than the individual.
