BENGALURU: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) is preparing for the inauguration of the city’s much-awaited metro route Pink Line. The fitness certificate that BMRCL needs to get before inauguration is likely to reach this week itself, and the route will soon be open for commercial operations.

The first phase of Pink Line Metro, one of the city’s major metro routes, is nearing inauguration. Work on the 7.5-km-long elevated section has been completed, and the inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety has also been successful, and the safety report is likely to reach BMRCL this week itself.

Last week, the CMRS successfully completed three days of inspection of the route. In the background of completion of inspection, the fitness certificate of the route is likely to reach BMRCL this week itself. The route which was already supposed to be open for commercial operations is getting postponed due to various reasons. It has now reached the final stage, and if the fitness certificate reaches this week, the opening of the route for traffic will also be even closer.

The BMRCL is also preparing with this expectation and if the report reaches this week, there is a possibility of opening the route for commercial operations around Ayudha Puja or Kannada Rajyotsava. Already BMRCL has also started preparations for inaugurating the route to put a brake on people’s waiting. If the route opens soon, it will be more convenient for commuters in this area, and waiting time will also reduce.
