VIJAYAPUR: A couple from Athani in Belgaum district, were died on the spot after their Force Crusier MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) crashed into a sugar-cane-laden tractor from behind. Nine others were injured in the incident which occurred on NH 50 near Dhulkhed in Indi taluk in the early hours on Thursday.
The police have identified the deceased as Bhayyaji Shinde (50) and Sumitra Shinde (45). The injured were shifted to hospital in Sollapur in Maharashtra.
All the people in the Crusier are the natives of Athani and were going to visit the Swami Samarth Kshetra near Akkalakot in Maharashtra.
The incident took place in Jhalki police limits. The police visited the accident spot and registered a case.
