BENGALURU: A day after a wild elephant killed a man behind R R Medical College near Kengeri while he was on a morning walk, the Forest department has driven the elephant back to Bannerghatta forest.
Following the death of one Nagaraj in an elephant attack, about 100 Forest department personnel, in three teams, conducted an operation through Monday night with two thermal imaging drones and found that the elephant had gone towards Bannerghatta side. The lone tusker that was in BM Kaval forest was driven back to Bannerghatta through the TK forest elephant corridor. The operation was conducted under leadership of DCF Chakrapani.
Meanwhile, after the elephant attack, a leopard was spotted close to the place where the elephant roamed, heightening anxiety among residents of Anchepalya. The leopard was seen around 3 am on Tuesday morning and security guards captured the movements of the animal.
Wild animals appear frequently in this part, but, for first time, an elephat took a man’s life on Monday. Leopards appear in the area occasionally. After the elephant incident, locals fear to step outside and have requested that the Forest department take action as soon as possible.
