BENGALURU: Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has hinted at making some changes in the guarantee schemes of the Congress government.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Public TV, he spoke about revising Gruha Jyothi, Gruha Lakshmi and Shakti schemes. He also admitted that the guarantee schemes have caused some trouble.
Speak on guarantee benefit for people from outside the state, the chief minister said it has been decided to implement a model of distributing swipe card for free bus travel because people are coming to Karnataka from Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Maharashtra. “They are utilising the facility of free bus travel. Some people who come from Maharashtra come to Belagavi, from Belagavi they come in free bus. Therefore, we are thinking about giving separate swipe card to voters of the state and locals”, he informed.
“If system of giving card to eligible beneficiaries of the state is implemented, it may cost about Rs 100 crore. But I am satisfied even if Rs 3,000 crore or Rs 5,000 crore is saved from revision of guarantee schemes”, said the CM, and expressed confidence that high command is with him.
