CHAMARAJANAGAR: Three people riding on a two-wheeler died after a car hit a two-wheeler near Hulasagudde in Hanur taluk in a hit-and-run accident on Friday. The deceased are Muniyappa (35), Mahendra (35) and Suresh (24) of Koppa village under Meenyam gram panchayat of Hanur taluk. The car driver was arrested later.
The accident occurred when the trio was going on a motorcycle from Koppa village to Kollegal to collect money from friends to install Ganapati on account of Gowri-Ganesha festival. A car which was going from Salundi village of Mysuru towards Male Mahadeshwara hills came at high speed and hit the two-wheeler.
Due to impact of collision, the front tyre of car burst. While two people who were on the bike died on spot, another breathed his last on the way to hospital. The driver of the car fled without stopping car. Later, the Hanur police seized the car and took three passengers, including driver Mahesh, into custody near Chikkamalapura on Lokanahalli road. Case has been registered in Hanur police station in this regard.
