BENGALURU: After spending hundreds of crores of rupees to fill potholes and with no solution in sight, Bengaluru has turned to artificial intelligence (AI) to fill road potholes.
The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is preparing to use AI technology and prepare an action plan for pothole-free roads. Artificial intelligence will be used on a pilot basis in the Bengaluru East City Corporation limits.

Using AI, the condition of roads will be assessed scientifically, and preparations are on for pothole-free road construction and road maintenance. With AI technology, plans are ready to conduct a comprehensive survey of 1,600 km of roads.
The AI report will assess the condition of roads based on their current state. To bring every road under the City Corporation limits into a digital system, each road will be given a unique road ID number.
The AI-based report will provide accurate estimates for patchwork. In the first phase of the AI survey, roads in all 50 wards under the corporation limits will be surveyed.
