Police seize Rs 42.64 lakh cash at various district checkposts in poll-bound Karnataka

SHIVAMOGGA/YADGIR: The police seized unaccounted cash Rs 30.64 lakh from different checkposts in the two districts on Monday.

In Vinoba Nagar police limits in Shivamogga, Rs 27.60 lakh that was being transported without valid documents was seized while in Shikaripur Rural police station limits, Rs 1.79 lakh in unaccounted cash was seized.

Also, the Gandhi Bazaar Kote police and the election flying squad seized 9.565 kg of gold worth Rs 5.82 crore, which was being transporting illegally.

The election authorities also seized Rs 1.25 lakh cash under Bhadravati Paper Town police station for not having proper documents.

In Yadgir, a man was detained for carrying cash without valid documents.

In Yadgir, Rs 12 lakh in cash was seized from a man near Ganj Circle, while he was transporting it from Yadgir to Arakera Tanda. The police have arrested Chandrappa Chavan for not providing adequate documents. Chandrappa claimed that the cash was from the sale of his land.
