State govt to delist 3-4 lakh beneficiaries of guarantee schemes, save Rs 100 crore

BENGALURU: With the Congress government deciding to as beneficiaries to register afresh for the guarantee schemes, it expects to save Rs 100 crore while eliminating 3-4 lakh beneficiaries. The move to call for fresh applications is said to be to remove fake beneficiaries from guarantee schemes.

Preparation are already under way to revise Gruha Lakshmi, Gruha Jyothi scheme guidelines which has come as a big shock for Gruha Lakshmi, Gruha Jyothi beneficiaries. As per the fresh move, preparation are being made to revise list of beneficiaries by removing deceased, and those paying GST and income tax.

Currently, 1.24 crore Gruha Lakshmi beneficiaries are being paid Rs 2,000 each — Rs 2,480 crore every month and Rs. 29,760 crore annually. By the end of April 2026, Rs. 72,253 crore has been paid. Under the Gruha Jyothi scheme, there are 1.64 crore beneficiaries getting free electricity up to 200 units. By the end of April 2026, the amount is Rs 26,115 crore.

Under the Anna Bhagya scheme, a total of Rs 18,897 crore has been paid so far. Under the Shakti scheme, as of June 10, this year, women passengers have availed 757.62 crore free tickets, valued at Rs 19,890 crore. Under the Yuva Nidhi scheme, 3,59,000 unemployed graduates/diploma holders have been paid Rs 3,000 and Rs 1,500 each respectively, totaling Rs 1,115 crore so far.

Overall, the Karnataka government has paid a total of Rs. 1,38,270.21 crore so far for the five guarantee schemes.
