BENGALURU: Those looking to take houses on lease in Bengaluru through apps like OLX, NoBroker and others, may do well to exercise caution. The fraudster targetted those who were looking for houses on lease through the apps.
A network of fraudsters seems to be operating in Bengaluru who sweet-talk people and if you get tricked even a little, they’ll pay rent for three months with your own money and pocket your funds. A fraud network targeted over 30 people in HSR Layout to the tune of crores of rupees by promising to provide houses on lease. They took the lease money, paid rent for three months, and cheated the unsuspecting people.
The fraud was committed by opening a fake company in the name of Arvo Venture Pvt Ltd in HSR Layout and the accused are Abhishek and Sagar A S. Dozens of families have lost huge sums of money and are left on the streets. As soon as a complaint was filed, the accused locked the office and the accused absconded.
When called, the accused make up stories saying that they would return the money in one or two days. Families have approached the police station asking to get their money back. They had taken loans to arrange lease money as they had no money to pay rent.
After an FIR was registered against the accused, the fraudsters opened another company. The accused have proceeded to cheat by opening a fake company named Valli Venture.
