BALLARI: Close on the heels of a recent scam where fake convocation certificates were issued for money, another scam has now been exposed at the Sri Krishnadevaraya University where students who failed degree exams are passed after taking money.

Failed students are reportedly passed if they pay Rs 6,000 per subject. This ‘pass racket’ that has been running for several years has now been exposed. University staff have allegedly already taken money from several students and passed those who failed.

Allegations have been made against UCMC section staff Riaz, Venkatesh Vanadurga, Yellalinga, Chandramohan and Umesh, and Public TV has obtained audio of staff members Venkatesh and Riaz demanding money from students.

As soon as the incident came to light, ABVP activists expressed outrage against the university, stating that this racket has been going on for many years. “Many poor students have been wronged due to this racket. Senior officials of the university are involved in this racket”, said Parishat leaders Dileep and Lohit. They have demanded a high-level investigation into the alleged racket.
