BIDAR: A Gescom was taken to task by farmers for allegedly taking bribes to cover up irregularities, at Dhupath Mahagaon of Aurad taluk. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

Farmers confronted Gescom assistant engineer Dinesh and other another staffer. Officials had earlier conducted raids in rural areas over illegal electricity usage. The staff had allegedly taken bribes from illegal power users during raids by the Gescom vigilance team.

While the officials proceeded to file complaints against some, they took bribes from others. Farmers demanded that if complaints are to be filed, they should be filed against everyone. Once it was proven that bribes had been taken, the officials and staff left saying they would not file cases against anyone.

Gescom Executive Engineer Ramesh Patil took note of the matter and assured that appropriate action would be taken against such staff.
