BENGALURU: A man hailing from Mysuru has been accused of cheating more than ten young women through matrimony profile fraud. An FIR has been filed against the accused at Adugodi police station in Bengaluru based on a complaint filed by one Raju.

The complainant’s daughter was looking for a groom on a matrimony website. At that time, J Pradeep Solomon and his mother Clara Kalavathi got acquainted with them. He allegedly cheated them by claiming that he had written an exam to become a judge and that he is currently a doctor.

When the family of the young woman visited Pradeep’s house in Mysuru, he convinced them that he owns 3 acres of land and one commercial complex in Mysuru. As dowry, he allegedly demanded a car, 1 kg of gold ornaments, and a house in Bengaluru for the wedding.

After the engagement, Pradeep’s mother Kalavathi threatened that the marriage would take place only if the dowry money, gold jewellery, and house were transferred to their name.
Accused Pradeep had stated that otherwise the marriage would be called off.

The complaint mentions that Rs 20 lakh was taken as an advance for the wedding. Currently, Adugodi police have registered a case and are investigating..

Meanwhile, Pradeep has released a video in which he says, “I had written the judge exam. At that time, I got acquainted with Raju’s family through Shaadi.com. Then Raju’s family inquired about my background and insisted on marriage. The engagement ceremony was held on February 8, 2026.

“At that time, they said they would give 1 kg of gold, a house in Bengaluru, and a car. We only said to conduct the marriage as per tradition. They are alleging that I forcibly demanded the things they said they would give. It is false that we issued threats. During the engagement, the girl’s family demanded a diamond ring worth Rs 4 lakh claiming that they had put gold ornaments worth Rs 20 lakh on the girl. For their prestige, they persuaded me and got me to agree to the marriage, and finally cheated me.

“They have filed a false FIR against me and are mentally harassing me and my mother. They had planned the wedding at a church in Mysuru on May 29. Later, we arranged food for the reception at a hotel. I spent Rs 9 lakh for that. But now, listening to a third person, they have alleged dowry harassment even before the marriage.

“The reason for all this is a person named Imran who was running a prostitution racket in the name of a parlour. I was waging a legal fight regarding that. For that revenge, they made such false allegations and finally filed a case. They barged into the house and created a ruckus when I was not at home. I will fight this legally”, he said.
