BENGALURU: A jeweller was duped of 1.850 kg of gold on the pretext of wholesale at an office on Sampige Road in Malleswaram on May 16. One of the accused was captured on CCTV camera making good his escape with the stolen gold.
A person named Paresh Soni called Mahendra Kumar Jain, owner of a jewellery shop in Nagarthpet, introduced himself as a wholesale trader and said he needed to buy 3 kg of gold. Soni asked Mahendra Kumar to bring the ornaments to his office in Malleswaram.
Accordingly, 3 kg of gold was taken to the designated spot. At that time, Paresh Soni, Chandrashekhar and Shyam introduced themselves, and while pretending to select designs, Chandrashekhar took a bag wtih 1.850 kg of gold and escaped.
Saying they would look for Chandrashekhar, the other two accused also escaped. An FIR has been registered in this regard at Malleswaram Police Station and police are on the lookout for the accused.
