KOLAR: A 15-year-old girl, who had mysteriously gone missing from home two days ago, was found dead in a farm pond at Haratti village on Saturday.
Her parents had filed a missing person complaint at the police station, but there was no trace of her. However, early this morning, the girl’s body was found floating in a farm pond in the village. Her parents’ heart-wrenching cries rent the air, while they also confronted and questioned the police.

Kavitha was studying in Class 8 at the government school in Harati village and had mysteriously gone missing on Thursday. Her parents had filed a complaint at the Kolar women’s police station. The discovery of her body has raised several suspicions.
The girl’s parents expressed suspicion about Anand, a youth from the neighbouring house in the same village, in connection with her disappearance. Police have taken him into custody and are interrogating him.
The parents suspect that Anand from the neighboring house lured the girl in the name of love and, over the past two to three days, took her to the village government fair price shop, raped her, and exploited her. When the frightened girl later insisted that he marry her, he allegedly took her and pushed her into the water, killing her.

Kavitha, a native of Kuppam in Andhra Pradesh, had been living for the past few years at her grandmother;s house in Harati village. Kavitha was studying well at the village government school. Anand reportedly took her at night and raped her. The deceased Kavitha had confided this to her friend.
Her family also came to know about Kavitha being with Anand. Out of fear, Kavitha asked Anand to marry her, but Anand threatened her and said he would not marry her. After that, both Kavitha and Anand went missing on the same day.

However, Anand returned on Friday, but Kavitha did not. Based on this suspicion, Kavitha’s parents filed a complaint at the police station. They allege that when Anand’s name was mentioned in the complaint, some staff at the women’s police station took a bribe and pressured them to remove Anand’s name from the complaint.
The parents vented their anger at the police personnel who arrived at the spot, saying, “If Anand had been summoned earlier, our daughter would not have faced this situation”, they said. The officers later pacified the family and registered a case based on their complaint. The accused, Anand, has now been arrested, and further investigation will be conducted after the girl’s postmortem report.
