KOPPAL: A 48-year-old man has been accused of cheating a 28-year-old woman by promising marriage, getting her pregnant, and then abandoning her. The incident took place in in Hosur village of Koppal taluk. The victim has now approached the police seeking justice.
Hanumavva (28) was promised marriage by Veerappa (48) from the same village. He got her pregnant and then backed out. Veerappa’s wife had died eight years ago and after his wife’s death, Veerappa became friends with Hanumavva. He told her he had no wife and would marry her, and developed a physical relationship with her.
When the villagers came to know, there was a quarrel and the two were separated. But Veerappa did not give up. He threatened Hanumavva’s life and continued the physical relationship. As a result, Hanumavva is now five months pregnant.
Whenever the woman raised the issue of marriage, Veerappa kept delaying. He then insisted that he cannot marry her. Helpless, the woman has gone to the Koppal women’s police station pleading for strict action against Veerappa and justice.
Hanumavva’s relatives are also demanding that she get justice. The man who should have held the hand of the woman he trusted has now stabbed her in the back. The plight of the pregnant woman is unbearable, they said.
