TUMAKURU: A temple priest suffocated his two children to death and then ended his life, apparently due to domestic disputes, at Alkere village in Kunigal taluk on Saturday.
Shivanna (40) was a priest at the Malleshwara Swamy temple in the village. Past midnight, he suffocated his two sons, Jeevan (11) and Pranesh (6) and then ended his life. The deaths were discovered on Saturday morning.
Shivanna’s wife Kavya, who was in an illicit relationship, had left home following which he had lodged a complaint and she was brought back. However, she took money and jewellery from the house and fled again. Upset over this, Shivanna killed his sons and committed suicide. The Kunigal police visited the spot and have registered a case.
