KARWAR: Two people died and one was critically injured after a car lost control due to overspeeding and crashed into a tree near Ajgaon at Karka Cross in Dandeli taluk of Uttara Kannada district on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Farukh Sab from Dharwad and Mudassir Ismail Mulla from Haliyal. The bodies were shifted to Haliyal taluk hospital for post-mortem examination. The accident occurred while they were travelling from Dandeli to Haliyal.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the car got wedged into the tree. A case has been registered in connection with the incident at Dandeli police station.
