BELAGAVI: Two people died on the spot after a goods vehicle transporting chickens rammed into a stationary lorry on the national highway near Yediyurappa Marga in Belagavi city. Two persons seated next to the driver died due to the impact of the collision while the driver is in critical condition.
The accident reportedly occurred in the early hours when the driver lost control, possibly due to drowsiness. The bodies of the deceased and also the injured were shifted to BIMS Hospital.
The goods vehicle, loaded with chickens, was on its way from Kolhapur to Soraba in Shivamogga district. Hundreds of chickens in the vehicle also died. Hirebagewadi PSI Avinash and police personnel visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
In another road accident, a car driver dead on the spot on the national highway in Kittur town after colliding with a motorcycle. The impact of the accident completely crushed the front portion of the Swift Dzire car.
The car was heading toward Dharwad at the time of the crash. The biker sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a local hospital.Kittur police visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
