BENGALURU: The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is facing criticism for allegedly imposing fines on consumers without informing them about the rules.

According to reports, the BWSSB has been imposing a fine of Rs 2,500 on consumers who have not regularised their temporary water connections after completing reconstruction of their buildings. However, the consumers claim that they were not informed about this rule, which was introduced by the BWSSB on February 18, 2025.

The consumers have alleged that the BWSSB has been issuing demand notices to them without providing any prior information or warning. The notices state that the consumers must pay the fine immediately, failing which they will face further action.

The consumers have expressed outrage over the BWSSB’s actions, stating that it is a case of harassment and exploitation. They are demanding that the BWSSB withdraw the demand notices, refund the fine already paid, and cancel the fine imposed on consumers who have regularised their connections.

The BWSSB has been accused of violating its own rules and regulations, and the consumers are seeking justice and transparency in the matter.
