BENGALURU: The city police have launched a special operation to identify and verify foreigners staying in the city. The move comes on the instructions of Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh.

During the operation, police teams checked suspicious locations across various divisions, verifying documents of more than 2,000 foreigners in one day on Wednesday. Most of them were found to be staying illegally, including Nigerians and Bangladeshi immigrants.

The police are now gathering information on those staying illegally and are interrogating them, checking their documents. The operation aims to ensure that foreigners comply with visa rules and regulations.

Police are using live cameras to verify documents, including visa verification and Form C, to avoid any issues. The authorities have warned landlords to provide Form C information to local police stations, failing which they will face deportation.

The operation is ongoing, and the police are taking strict action against those found guilty.
