BENGALURU: Cyber criminals have created a fake Facebook account in the name of Bengaluru Police Commissioner S Seemant Kumar Singh, trying to scam unsuspecting people. The account, created in Hindi, has photos with dignitaries to gain trust.
Police suspect the account was created to scam people after gaining their trust. This isn’t the first time such a scam has happened. Earlier, fake accounts were created in the names of ADGP Alok Kumar and IPS officer Bhimashankar Guled. The cybercrime police have registered a case and started investigating.
In another incident, a former Supreme Court judge was targeted by cybercrooks, who threatened him, claiming to be from Bengaluru Cyber Police. The judge’s secretary, Bharat Parashar, filed a complaint.
The scammers are using a fake mobile number in the government’s name, and the police have registered an FIR against the unknown person.
