MYSURU, CHAMARAJANAGAR: A tigress, which that had been terrorising a village in Mysuru district has been captured by the forest department on Monday night. The tigress, aged about 6-7 years, was caught near Hosabeeravalu village in Sargur taluk.
The tigress had three cubs, which have also been rescued. The Forest department used a drone camera to track the tigress’s movement. After locating the tigress, the officials administered anesthesia and captured it. Two cubs were rescued on Monday night, and the third cub was rescued on Tuesday morning. Over 40 personnel were involved in the operation to capture the tigress and rescue the cubs.
Meanwhile, a motorcycle rider had close shave from an elephant attack near Bandipur in Gundlupet taluk of Chamarajanagar district. The incident was captured on the mobile phone of a car passenger. The elephant first tried to attack a car before charging towards the bike rider, who abandoned his vehicle and ran for his life. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
In another incident, a man was killed in a wild elephant attack at Gombekallu village near Nellikatri in Chamarajanagar district on the outskirts of the Biligiriranga Hills Tiger Reserve. The deceased was identified as Kyathe Gowda. Fortunately, another person who was with him managed to escape the attack.
