MYSURU: Movie producer D Umapath Srinivas Gowda has once again taken a subtle dig at actor Darshan during an interaction with the media at the film awards ceremony held in Mysuru on Monday evening.
Without directly mentioning Darshan’s name, Umapathy said that it’s the producers, directors, and the audience who make a star. He emphasised that a big star is made only when a producer and director come together for a film. He added that once a person becomes a star, many people claim to be their benefactors, but it’s essential to remember those who have helped you throughout your life.
Umapathy also made a veiled reference to Darshan’s election campaigns, saying that feeding people once a year does not make someone a benefactor. He said that those who provide food every day are the real benefactors, not those who do it just once a year.
The producer further said that he would always acknowledge and be grateful to those who have helped him. He emphasised the importance of gratitude and said that forgetting it can make life meaningless.
When asked about his upcoming film projects, Umapathy revealed that he is planning to make a film with two heroes. He clarified that he won’t be making a pan-India film, as many who have tried have ended up losing money. He added that for him, Karnataka and its people are his priority.
