BENGALURU: The Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has announced that supply of Cauvery water will be suspended for three days — September 15, 16, and 17 — due to scheduled maintenance work.
According to Dr V Ram Prasath Manohar, chairman of BWSSB, the water supply will be affected due to the shutdown of water pumping stations at various stages of the Cauvery Water Supply Scheme.
He said that regular emergency maintenance works are being carried out at various places to ensure smooth running of the water treatment plants and main pipelines of the Cauvery Water Supply Project and to keep them in good condition.
The Cauvery Stage-5 pumping station will be shut down from 1 am on September 15 to 1 pm on September 17, while other stages will be shut down for 24 hours from 6 am on September 16 to 6 am on September 17.
The BWSSB has informed citizens that the Sanchari (mobile) Cauvery water supply service will be suspended during these three days and the tankers will be used for emergency water supply.
The board has appealed to citizens in areas receiving Cauvery water to store water in advance for their needs during the suspension period. The maintenance work aims to ensure smooth functioning and upkeep of the water supply system.
