7,361 names taken off history-sheet in state as Assembly polls draw close

BENGALURU: Ahead of the Assembly election in the state, names of history-sheeters have been removed from the list across the state after considering their behaviour and non-involvement in crimes. This year, 7,361 names have been struck off the history-sheet and, in the last five years, the government has struck off the names of 26,139 rowdies from the history sheet.

Some of these former history-sheeters plan to contest the upcoming Assembly election from different political parties and some have already got  into campaigning activities and put up hoardings, banners in their areas.

According to the data, 3,489 names were struck off in 2018, 2,195 in 2019, 1,718 in 2020, 8,062 in 2022, 3,314 in 2022 and 7,361 names in 2023. Of these, the names of 17 history-sheeters have been removed from the list in Bengaluru city.
