51 police personnel from K’taka given Union Home minister’s medals

BENGALURU: Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra on Thursday presented the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Best Investigation to 51 police personnel from the state.

Speaking on the occasion, Jnanendra said it is a matter of honour that the state has secured over 50 medals. “For the last few years, the medals could not be given due to the pandemic and other reasons. The awards and medals recognise the efforts of the officers and personnel and encourage them to do more. The police department has played a major role in maintaining law and order in society ever since independence”, he said.

“The Karnataka Police are No. 1 in the country and the government is fully behind the force. The department had been neglected so far. Now, houses are being built for police personnel and police stations are being built. In one year, 117 police station have been built. Scene of Crime officers have been appointed to help strengthen cases and FSL labs are being set up in the districts. New vehicles have been provided at a cost of Rs 80 crore”, he noted.

Later, he told media persons that one lakh police personnel and officers have been given awards to mark 75 years of independence to encourage them. “Our police force is known for discipline, bravery and courage”, he added.
