51 deaths in a single day: ADGP Alok Kumar

BENGALURU: After six people were killed in the horrific car accident that occurred in Hassan, ADGP-Traffic and Road Safety, Alok Kumar, expressed concern over the fatal road accidents in different parts of the state.

Sharing information on his official ‘X’ handle about the total deaths reported in road accidents on Sunday, he appealed to motorists to follow the traffic rules. Alok Kumar wrote, “In the last 24 hours, 51 lives were lost in road accidents, one of the highest toll in the recent past. Many of these are caused by rash and reckless driving”.

“#Roadsafety needs responsible behaviour from all the stakeholders,” he mentioned.

On Sunday, March 27, Alok Kumar said the state had seen the highest number of deaths in accidents in recent days.  He noted that accidents have increased due to overspeeding and reckless driving.

Many accidents took place on Sunday in different parts of the state including Chikkodi, Hassan, Karwar and Ramanagara. The major reason for the vehicle accidents is violation of traffic rules.
