VIJAYANAGAR: A 34-year-old woman ended her life by consuming poison in one of the rooms of National School at Hoovina Hadagali on Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as Basamma alias Roopa, a private school teacher.
Roopa and Arjun fell in love with each other and got married 10 years ago. The National School is owned by Arjun’s family and the couple were working as teachers in the same school. She was allegedly upset over dowry harassment by her husband’s family. On Sunday evening, on the pretext of preparing for the exam, she had gone to school and there, she wrote a death note, consumed poison and committed suicide.
In the death note, Roopa mentioned that her husband Arjun did not want to live with her and that is why she committed suicide. A dowry harassment case has been filed against husband Arjun, mother-in-law Ambika, Sangeetha and six others at the Hadagali police station.
