BENGALURU: While there have been several instances of two vehicles with the same registration number, perhaps for the first time, three vehicles, all two-wheelers, have been spotted with the same registration.

There have been cases where some private bus operators have used the same registration number on two vehicles to cheat on road tax. But now, a TVS Ntorq, a Honda Dio and Suzuki Gixxer motorcycle have been spotted with the same registration number (KA 03 JY 4152) in the city.

For the bungling of the Regional Transport Office, the hapless motorists may end up having to bear the brunt. The Transport Department should look into the matter and take strict action against those involved. A racket in fake registration plates may also be at work and such vehicles may be used to commit crimes, and hence, the RTO officials and traffic police should crack down, some motorists have said.
