BENGALURU: In a horrific incident, a family of three committed suicide by setting themselves ablaze at HSR Layout on Friday morning. The deceased have been identified as Santosh Kumar (54), Omana Santosh (50) and their daughter Sanusha Santosh(17).
As per initial reports, the cause of the incident was said to be a family feud. After preliminary investigation by the police, it came to light that the reason for the deaths of the three was financial problems.
The police investigation revealed that Santosh had given loans to others and had also borrowed money himself. He couldn’t repay the loans and had wanted his wife and daughter to end their lives too in a suicide pact, but they did not agree and discouraged him.
However, on Friday morning, he poured petrol on his sleeping wife and daughter and set them on fire. Then he set himself on fire and died.
A case has been registered at HSR Layout police station and further investigation is on.
