3 dead, 2 injured after car rams into parked LPG cylinder-laden lorry near Kottigehara

CHIKKAMAGALUR: Three people were killed and two seriously injured after a car rammed into a LPG cylinder-laden lorry parked on roadside near Kottigehara in Mudigere taluk in the early hours on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Gurukiran (28), Mohan (30), and Gnanesh (28). The seriously injured, Prem Kumar and Hrithik, have been shifted to a hospital in Hassan for further treatment.

The deceased are residents of Halil Gadde village in Gubbi taluk of Tumakuru district, and it is reported that all five were friends from the same village. They were travelling by car from Tumakuru to Dharmasthala when it crashed at high speed into the rear of a lorry that was parked on the roadside near the petrol bunk in Kottigehara.

Due to the impact, the car was completely mangled, and three people in the car died on the spot due to severe bleeding. On hearing the sound of the crash, locals immediately rescued the injured who were trapped in the car and shifted them to the hospital. The Bankal police visited the spot and registered a case.
