BENGALURU: The city police have taken 25 people into preventive custody for organising a flash mob in support of Palestine on MG Road in front of the Metro station on Monday.

The protesters held banners and placards and wore black bands on their mouths in support of Palestine and demanding that Israel should stop the bombardment of Gaza while asking the Indian government to withdraw its support to Israel. The protesters, under the banner of Bahutva Karnataka also formed a human chain and raised slogans saying, ‘India with Palestine’.

Police Commissioner B Dayananda said, “A flash mob was organised with any information or permission. About 25 people have been taken into preventive custody and cases registered against them. They were also booked for public nuisance and blocking traffic. They mobilised themselves through WhatsApp. We will not allow any such protests in Bengaluru”.

The Cubbon Park police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.
