DAVANAGERE, RAICHUR: Tragedy struck Halavagalu village in Harapanahalli taluk of Vijayanagara district, where two brothers drowned in the Tungabhadra river right in front of their father.
Manu (19) and Prajwal (18) were swept away by the strong currents while bathing in the river with their father Manjappa. The father managed to save the youngest son Chiranjeevi, but lost his two sons.
The family is grief-stricken, and the incident has sent shockwaves in the village. A case has been registered at Halavagalu police station.
In another incident, a young man, identified as Aman Khan (20), drowned in the Tungabhadra river near Mukkunda village in Sindhanur taluk while making a reel with friends.
Aman, a resident of Ganganagar in Sindhanur, was swimming in the river when he was swept away by the currents. Despite efforts by his friends to rescue him, he couldn’t be saved. A case has been registered at Sindhanur Rural police station.
