Eighteen stray dogs have been reported missing in RR Nagar area over the last week.

BENGALURU: Unidentified miscreants are killling stray dogs in Hosakerehalli ward in RR Nagar and dumping the carcasses near bushes and at isolated places.

So far, animal rights activists say, that at least 18 dogs have been poisoned and killed. The activists have so far recovered eight carcasses of which five were completely decomposed.

The police and BBMP officials have visited the spot.

Sadhana Hegde, the founder of an NGO and member of Bengaluru DSPCA said in a video message, “We received information that 18 dogs were missing from around Shanmugha temple in RR Nagar since a week. Some parking attendants and flower vendors told us that a man came in a white coloured car, fed the dogs something like milk and shot videos the next day”.

Activist Sadhana Hegde has sought action against the culprits.

“When some activists conducted a search around the area, they found eight carcasses and a search is on for the other carcasses. The AHVS and the BBMP, along with the police, are also investigating and the post-mortem of the carcasses will be conducted. All the dogs were found tied up”, she said.

Sadhana said it has become common for people to kill stray dogs over trivial reasons and demanded that the police should take action in this regard. The BBMP should also create awareness and take strict action against the miscreants, she added.
