MANGALURU: A 15-year-old student died after he was swept away into the sea due to strong wind and currents at Thota Bengre here on Thursday evening.
Prajeeth M Tingalaya was the son of Mithun, a resident of Bengre. Hailing from a poor family, Prajeeth would go fishing with his father in order to support the family and fund his studies. However, he was washed away by strong currents on Thursday evening.
Locals immediately launched a rescue and pulled Prajeeth out of the water, but he was in a critical condition. He died while he was being shifted to hospital. The Panambur police have registered a case.
