10 minutes of meditation to be made compulsory in all schools, PU colleges

BENGALURU: The Primary Education Department has proposed 10 minutes of meditation for all schools and PU college students for their overall improvement.

Primary Education Minister B C Nagesh, in a communication to the commissioner of the Department of Public Instruction, the director, PU Education Board and the Karnataka State Primary School Teachers’ Association, has stated that from the teachers’ association had requested that 10 minutes of meditation be introduced compulsorily in all schools every day.

Meditation brings in positivity, increases concentration, helps improve physical and mental health and overcome stress. It will also help students cultivate good habits and become good citizens, the letter noted.

The minister said a particular time should be fixed for meditation in all schools and PU colleges and directed the officials concerned to take steps to implement the measure.
