10 kg of silver seized on first day of pre-poll checks in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: Ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls, the city police have stepped up vigil against election-related irregularities.

The police have set up checkposts across the state and every vehicle is being inspected since Saturday night. The police have put up barricades and are checking all vehicles, including two-wheelers, cars, autorickshaws, goods vehicles and lorries at checkposts on all the main roads. The Election Commission officials held a meeting with the police regarding poll candidates luring voters and directed the police to check undocumented items including money, liquor and gifts.

The police have set up checkposts across the state and every vehicle is being inspected since Saturday night.

On the first day, the SJ Park police seized 10kg of undocumented silver items. Ahead of the Karnataka assembly elections, people cannot carry more than Rs 2 lakh in cash and no more than two litres of liquor. If a large amount of money and goods are being transported, appropriate documents must be provided.
