HASSAN: A group of miscreants brandished a gun and sword and threatened the toll plaza staff while refusing to pay up at the Chowlagere toll in Alur taluk on Sunday.
Five goons came in a Maruti 800 car and the toll plaza staff lowered the barrier and asked for the toll fee for the car. The rowdies immediately got down from the car and abused the toll staff. There was a heated argument between the youths and the toll staff.
They refused to pay the toll and hurled abusive language at the toll staff, demanding that the barrier be opened. Later, they threatened the toll staff by showing them a gun and a machete. After that, they rammed through the barrier and left without paying the toll fee.
Police visited the spot and the identities of the rowdies is yet to be established. Police are gathering information to find out whether the gun was fake or real. The toll staff were shaken after the gun and machete were shown to them. The incident occurred in Alur police station limits.
