YADGIR: A youth, who had complained that he was kidnapped and assaulted in an alleged moral policing incident, has been charged under the POCSO Act along with 15 others for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl and coercing her to convert to Islam after blackmailing her.

Wahid Badal has been accused of ‘love jihad’ as he allegedly tried to convert a minor girl after having a forced sexual relationship with her and threatening to leak their intimate pictures and videos online. He had also told the girl that she would be accepted in his community by the elders if she converted and that she would have her freedom. He also allegedly threatened to leak their videos and photos if she did not do as he said.

The scared girl then informed her parents who took up the issue with Wahid’s parents, but they made light of the issue saying that it was common in their community. The scared parents then approached some Bajrang Dal leaders and informed them about what had happened.

The activists of the Hindu group then got Wahid to delete the intimate videos and warned him not to trouble the minor girl. Following this, Wahid lodged a complaint on Wednesday against nine people alleging kidnap and assault.

The angry parents of the minor girl then lodged a complaint with the women’s police station alleging sexual assault and forced conversion. The police have since registered an FIR under the POCSO Act against Wahid and 15 others.
