SHIVAMOGGA: A youth, who had sexually assaulted a minor girl in 2022, has been sentenced to 20 years rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 1 lakh by the district court here. If he fails to pay the fine, he will have to undergo another six months of simple imprisonment.
The court also ordered that the fine of Rs 1 lakh, along with an additional relief of Rs 3 lakh should be paid to the victim.
The youth, then 19, had sexually abused a 15-year-old girl after promising to marry her. After the girl got pregnant, her parents lodged a complaint with the Bhadravathi New Town police station who investigated the case and filed a chargesheet in the court.
