BENGALURU: In yet another double murder in the city, a youth killed both his parents after a fight over a trivial reason at Byatarayanapura in Kodigehalli police limits on Monday lat evening. The youth is on the run since the incident.
Bhaskar Udyawar (61) and his wife Shantamma (60) are the deceased while the killer is their son Sharat. While their younger son lived with them, their older son lives in Kudlu. Bhaskar was working in Dubai for some years while his wife retired as a government employee. They built a house near Kodigehalli Gate and settled down their.
It is said that their younger son Sharat had psychological issues and would pick fights with his parents after drinking and would also assault them. Around 8 pm on Monday, he picked a fight again and hit his parents on the head with an iron rod. He then locked the door from outside and fled.
On Tuesday morning, when the older son called his parents, there as no answer. He then called some neighbours who checked the house and found the couple murdered.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Lakshmi Prasad said, “We received information about the crime from the couple’s elder son. He has lodged a complaint that his brother may have committed the murders. The forensic team and dog squad have checked the place and we will arrest the accused soon”.
The Kodigehalli police visited the spot and have registered an FIR. They are now on the lookout for Sharat, who local residents described as having psychological issues. They said he would not even use a mobile phone.
